Hash Trash Run 928, Directions to Run 929

Hello fellow Hashers!

Hare's eye view of the Nine Hundred and Twenty eighth Hash (it's a short one this time...):

The hash wasn't quite as soggy as the week before but the skies were threatening.
We ran up hills.
We ran down hills.
We did not run on flat ground.
We ran through the streets of Mevaseret Zion, off road and up and down stairs. Lots of stairs. We then found the circle and demolished Caveman's snacks before all freezing to death and going home.

6. Take the first right onto HaShahar
7. Slight left Onto Ya'avets

9. Find a parking spot, the big garden you see, that's the place...

Hash Trash Run 927, Directions to Run 928

Hello fellow Hashers!

Hare's eye view of the Nine Hundred and Twenty Seventh Hash:

WET! SLOPPY! COLD! That's when great runners rise to the occasion! (Except Kadaffi, he ran with an umbrella, doin' his Mary Poppins imitation...) Everyone else gets honorable mention for showing up, except for Goldmember who got lost and then went home. Shame.
The walkers got lost tryin' to get to the halfway point, where we haled Papa Abe and his seven sons. Eventually it all came together smoothly in the muddy parking lot where we drank beer, sang, and held our umbrellas tight.
Kadaffi made up for the umbrella gig, with a whiskey shot at Mike's Place afterwards, where we had a ginormous birthday for our Austin virgin\guest Phoebe, so eventually it turned out to be a fun winter day in Herzliya.

Maps: From: Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem.

Directions: 
Head towards J'lem (or TA if you are cumin' from J'lem) on No 1
Exit at the Harel Interchange
Turn left (or take a right if you are cumin' from J'lem) at the traffic lights to cross back over the No 1, heading North
Continue North along Ha'rel
At the kikar (roundabout\traffic circle) there is a dirt carpark where your Hare will be waiting

Who invented the paperclip

When Johann Vaaler patented his paper clip in 1901, there already were similar designs on the books. William Middlebrook of Waterbury, Connecticut patented his design in 1899. Cornelius Brosnan of Springfield, Massachusetts patented his Konaclip in 1900.

So, who was first to invent the paper clip?

Well, it is thought to be Johann Vaaler. Drawings of his design date to early 1899, but since Norway had no patent law at the time he had to seek patent rights in Germany and the US in the following years.

Johann Vaaler was born on 15 March 1866 in Aurskog, Norway. Known as an innovator in his youth, he graduated in electronics, science and mathematics. He was employed by the owner of an invention office when he invented the paper clip in 1899.

The paper clipSeveral designs followed the original. Only a few remain, such as the Ideal, Non-Skid, Owl and Gem. The first double-oval clip, the Gem, was launched in early-1900 by Gem Manufacturing Ltd of England. The paper clip remains as one of the most-used items of all time.

Hash Trash Run 926, Directions to Run 927

Hello fellow Hashers!

Hare's eye view of the Nine Hundred and Twenty Sixth Hash:

It was a beautiful day in Tel Aviv for a hash!
Our hares, Penis Envy and Caveman, took us through the narrow, quiet streets of Tel Aviv and then along the promenade for the finale.
We had several new folks (For all those who speek Hash-Speak - "Virgins") join us this week... and the Jerusalem contingent ventured to Tel Aviv this week as well! No doubt we had quite the pack this week.
Much bitching and moaning was heard from the pack as it was claimed the trail was not marked well. Clearly those complainers were not at hash 925 where for the most part there were no markings, thus when compared to this week, the trail was indeed well marked (*Hash-Scribe Note - Hares to be, mark the trail well!). The halfway point was dedicated to Joe Button and as usual, half the group sang "watermelon, watermelon, watermelon.".
Following the hash, we enjoyed chili and more beer at the On-After at Penis Envy's place. Sorry to those of you who missed it as the chili was good and the beer cold!

1. Exit at HaSira Interchange-מחלף הסירה‎ toward Exit to Herzliya Pituach/יציאה להרצליה פיתוח‎

2. Keep left at the fork to continue toward Sderot Abba Eban/שדרות אבא אבן‎

3. Turn right onto Sderot Abba Eban/שדרות אבא אבן‎

4. Slight left onto HaSadnaot/הסדנאות‎


On HaSadnaot there is a little park, There's a dirt parking lot next to the park, your hare will be there.

Hello fellow Hashers!

Hare's eye view of the Nine Hundred and Twenty Fifth Hash:

Being the Hare, I thought that the run was cleverly set. The trail was innovative with no false trails, and no checks. However, every street corner was a possible check as the pack had to check it out at every intersection.

Being the hare I felt quite smug knowing how much this would be appreciated.

However, the pack somehow didn't agree with me. In fact you can't even begin to politely describe how unimpressed they were with my trail.

Anticipating this, I made the second half even better by using no trail whatsoever just running down to and along the beach and back to the cars.

There we got our swimmies and 5 hearty fools dove in for the anal annual New Year's Swim. For the finale the pizza was great.

Why was it that the pizza eaters (except for g-m) were also the swimmers, were also the runners?
