Always Rushin' Around
Place: Kochav HaTzafon, North Tel Aviv

It being Purim eve, the Hare had called for a costume run and so we Hashers dressed accordingly. In outfits ranging from Batgirl to Santa Claus, Darth Vader to a Deranged Bag Lady, and Borat ("the world's cheapest costume" is how Neverfucker described his grease-penciled mustache), the Holyland Hash House Harriers set out to show Tel Aviv how to do lack of inhibition right.
The first leg of the run took us into Yarkon Park where the atmosphere was festive -- plenty of jolly parents and kids, dogs, bicycles -- but why stay on a running path when there's a perfectly good highway to traverse illegally? After all, Caveman's rubber mask was ugly enough to stop traffic, which it did, thankfully, and the car moved on after the driver finally finished cussing the Captain out. We were joined midway by Claire and Richard, who somehow managed to find the group by sheer force of will (though Deliverance later floated the theory that they might have GPS chips implanted in their heads).
The halfway point was the triangular traffic island just where the Ayalon Highway exits into Rokach Boulevard. We almost lost the walkers as they ambled in the opposite direction back towards the starting point. All assembled, Diablo led the group in a round of "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot".*
The second half took us up into Ramat Aviv, the back end of Tel Aviv University and the train station -- a place so sleepy on a Saturday that the guard barely bothered to rouse himself from slumber when we raced past. By the time we hit Namir Road, almost all were convinced we were on the straight and narrow path back to the circle.
This would have been true, but for the fact that the Hare likes bridges, a fact that Boston Creamed used to her advantage in heading sideways towards the pedestrian overpass, gaining an advantage that allowed her to become the day's FRB.
In keeping with the topsy-turvy nature of the Purim holiday, Down-downs included a bite of sweet Hamentaschen (or Oznay Haman, the traditional 3-cornered holiday cookie) washed down with bitter beer, the run was deemed "good" yet the Hare was called in for being "bad"; and Dead Boring capped off his Rome Marathon training by high-tailing it to Madagascar (huh?) where it's reportedly a relaxing 35 degrees in the shade.
HASHERS REPRESENT AT KS RUN
Boston Creamed, Captain Caveman, Taco Balls and Twin Peaks all turned up on Saturday morning for the annual Kfar Sava 10k run. The weather was perfect, the pre-Purim atmosphere delightful and a fine time was had by all. And speaking of times:

Humble Scribe couldn't find Taco Balls on the Shvoong website list but he says he did it in 00:52:10, more or less, so there you are.

FFS No Longer Iron Man - Going for Steel Instead
In between trolling for sharks and gamboling with dolphins, Fer Fox Sake takes a moment to key a few lines on his Blackberry, writing, "Back from the depths of the Pacific. Managed two dives below 200 ft. Now back in Oz. Have a 45 km Ultra this weekend followed by a 100 km Ultra in two weeks time. You should see where I have been training. On-on. FFS Downunder". We look forward to seeing what is left of FFS -- blocks of muscle roped together with strands of sinew, so it would seem -- when he returns.
*It was pionted out that, like an long-married couple, we've reached the sad day when even a comic simulated circle jerk is so boring we'd rather watch TV, and that new songs are needed, pronto.

Kimber and I have travelled for days to reach Switzerland in hopes of reuniting with our hashing brethren only to learn that Pant and Push and Sam are planning a trip to the UK the same week and Wonky Willie is in Oz... Unbelievable! I believe that a down down by all, taken in absentia for Pant and Push and Wonky Willie, is in order. On On, Dumbelle"
Don't know if Down-downs are truly called for but hey, any excuse for a beer !!!
